So what is this?

The honest answer is I dont really know yet. Sounds awesome I know…

I will get into this in a later blog post, but I love learning. I have tried to learn as much as I possibly can about basketball since I started coaching. For my 18th birthday, I had my parents buy me a Billy Donovan pressing tape. I remember recording every game that was on Espn and then watching them after my high school games. In fact, if you asked my brother he will still bring up that I taped over his copy of “Bio-Dome”. Apologies to my brother and Pauley Shore…

With all the resources we have now to learn, I dont think 2004 me could have ever predicted everything we are exposed to today. However, I have begun to feel that I am constantly consuming and not necessarily learning (Will expand on this in a later blog post). So that is why I started the blog.

I want to share things I have learned and I want to be able to really deep dive into what I am thinking about. Twitter is a great place for sharing ideas, but the character limit gets in the way of details at times. David Perell talks about the fact that “Writing is thinking and Writing is learning.” So hopefully with all the learning I have done over the years I will be able to write some stuff that makes sense.

I will warn you, I do not claim to be a great writer and know I will make mistakes. I loved writing in High School and early college. I was almost an English major until an English professor said “You aren’t a very good writer are you?” So just understand that I will put a lot of effort into this, but I might put a comma in the wrong place.

One final piece. If something I write strikes you in a certain way, do not hesitate to reach out to me via email or on twitter (@coachkylebrown). I love to talk basketball and discuss the game. I want to share as much as I can and think that this is a great platform to do that.
